Abel’s Story
The He’s Abel Project (THAP) is an fund-raising initiative launched in May 2008 to assist a 17 year old boy who suffered from leukemia. The project takes after his name, Abel Cruz, and emphasizes the fact that God is able based on Ephesians 3:20. This summer project was coordinated by a group of youth and young adults based in a
compilation of Houston-area churches. Sadly, Abel passed away on August 5th, 2008.
Despite Abel’s death, his missionary spirit has inspired and touch real people in immense ways. That’s why THAP did not lose sight of the mission to help Abel’s family recover from thousands of dollars of debt due to Abel’s medical treatments. On September 7th, 2008 THAP hosted an elaborate benefit dinner at The Houston Club to honor the life of Abel and celebrate the blessings God bestowed on the project. At that time we presented a check to the family of just over $8,000 God had brought in through our fund-raising efforts in just 3 months.
